A rare to find print by the artist
Dion Pears* (1929-1985) of Barry Sheene on the
1980 Akai Texaco Yamaha TZ 750, clearly signed
in pencil by Barry Sheene.
These prints were amongst a batch
of 8000 various prints bought at auction about
28 years ago when Quorn Fine Arts ceased trading,
whereby they had paid the personalities, in this
case Barry Sheene to sign them. There was about
100 signed by Sheene and about 600 un-signed.
Since then, they have been kept in storage.
This is one of three prints that
we have acquired and currently have for sale.
Size: 20inch x 15inch, Image size 16.5inch x 11inch.
Condition: Very Good.
Comes complete with COA.
DION PEARS born
1st August 1929 at Richmond, Surrey. His grandfather
was Charles Pears, the famous marine painter,
who was president of the Society of Marine Artists.
His first commission was to paint a Renault car
famous for its success in the 1950 Monte Carlo
Rally. Within months Pears was an established
professional painter. Acknowledged as one of the
world’s foremost motor artists, he was commissioned
by many of motor racing’s celebrities such
as Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Jack Brabham,
John Surtees and the late Graham Hill. Pears was
not purely a painter of things modern and high
speed. |
